Oil prices were higher in European trading on Monday, but stayed near the weakest level in around three weeks amid signs of further gains in U.S. crude output.

The U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude June contract rose 20 cents, or around 0.4%, to $49.82 a barrel by 3:20AM ET (07:20GMT). The U.S. benchmark fell to $49.20 on Friday, a level not seen since March 29.

It lost $3.35, or almost 7%, last week, the steepest drop in over a month.
