Oil prices on track for biggest weekly decline in over four years

Oil prices plunged to their lowest in more than a year on Friday, putting them on track for the biggest weekly decline in more than four years, as the rapid spread of the coronavirus stoked fears of slowing global demand.Investors are increasingly worried the epidemic could turn into a pandemic, as the virus has spread beyond its epicentre in China to another 46 countries.The most active contract for May was down $1.37, or 2.7%, at $50.36 a barrel by 0445 GMT, a 14-month low. The front-month April contract expires later on Friday.West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell $1.33, or 2.8%, to $45.76 per barrel. U.S. crude has fallen about 14% for the week, the biggest weekly decline since May 2011.New infections of the coronavirus reported around the world were now surpassing those in mainland China, where more than 2,700 people have died. A further 57 deaths have been recorded in other countries.

सप्ताह के आखिरी कारोबारी दिन यानी शुक्रवार को शेयर बाजार में भारी गिरावट देखने को मिल रही है। दुनिया भर के शेयर बाजारों में हाहाकार मचा हुआ है। सुबह 9:51 बजे बॉम्बे स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का प्रमुख इंडेक्स सेंसेक्स 1,164 अंकों की गिरावट के बाद 38,581 के स्तर पर था। जबकि नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्टी 350 अंकों की गिरावट के बाद 11,285 के स्तर पर था। इससे पहले सुबह 9:34 बजे सेंसेक्स 1,044.18 अंक यानी 2.63 फीसदी की गिरावट के बाद 38,701.48 के स्तर पर कारोबार कर रहा था। वहीं निफ्टी 301.60 अंक यानी 2.59 फीसदी की गिरावट के बाद 11,331.60 के स्तर पर कारोबार कर रहा था। घरेलू शेयर बाजार में भारी गिरावट से कुछ ही मिनटों में निवेशकों के करीब पांच लाख करोड़ रुपये डूब गए।
