Benchmark indices ended higher in the volatile session on August 9 with Nifty above 19,600.
Top gainers on the Nifty included Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel, Tata Motors and M&M, while losers included Divis Labs, Apollo Hospitals, Maruti Suzuki, UltraTech Cement and Bajaj Finance.
Among sectors, metal index gained 2.5 percent and oil & gas index up 1 percent. The FMCG, capital goods, healthcare indices up 0.5 percent each.
BSE midcap index rose 0.4 percent and smallcap index gained 0.5 percent.
