Indian indices opened on a negative note on May 24 with Nifty below 18300.
The Sensex was down 238.71 points or 0.39% at 61,743.08, and the Nifty was down 69.70 points or 0.38% at 18,278.30. About 875 shares advanced, 1017 shares declined, and 97 shares unchanged.
Major gainers on the Nifty were Adani Enterprises, Power Grid Corp, Britannia Industries, Sun Pharma and Kotak Mahindra Bank, while losers were Adani Ports, Hindalco Industries, Grasim Industries, Wipro and M&M.

निफ्टी पर प्रमुख लाभ अदानी एंटरप्राइजेज, पावर ग्रिड कॉर्प, ब्रिटानिया इंडस्ट्रीज, सन फार्मा और कोटक महिंद्रा बैंक थे, जबकि हारने वालों में अदानी पोर्ट्स, हिंडाल्को इंडस्ट्रीज, ग्रासिम इंडस्ट्रीज, विप्रो और एमएंडएम थे।
