Benchmark indices ended higher on May with Nifty above 18,300 supportd by metal, IT and pharma names.
Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Divis Laboratories, Apollo Hospitals and Tech Mahindra were among the biggest gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Nestle India, Hero MotoCorp, Eicher Motors, Axis Bank and Tata Motors.
Among sectors, metal index up 3 percent, information technology index rose 2 percent, while capital goods, oil & gas and healthcare indices up 1 percent each.
The BSE midcap index added 0.7 percent and smallcap index up 0.4 percent.

निफ्टी पर अडानी एंटरप्राइजेज, अदानी पोर्ट्स, डिविस लेबोरेटरीज, अपोलो हॉस्पिटल्स और टेक महिंद्रा सबसे बड़े लाभार्थी थे, जबकि हारने वालों में नेस्ले इंडिया, हीरो मोटोकॉर्प, आयशर मोटर्स, एक्सिस बैंक और टाटा मोटर्स थे।
सेक्टरों में मेटल इंडेक्स 3 फीसदी, सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी इंडेक्स 2 फीसदी चढ़ा, जबकि कैपिटल गुड्स, ऑयल एंड गैस और हेल्थकेयर इंडेक्स में 1 फीसदी की तेजी रही।
बीएसई मिडकैप इंडेक्स में 0.7 फीसदी और स्मॉलकैप इंडेक्स में 0.4 फीसदी की तेजी रही।
